Use Your Imagination

Girl looking at unicorn with the handwritten note "Use your imagination"

As a child, I was a daydreamer. I used to plan times where I could just be alone and daydream.

I still do it.

In my car, waiting in line, falling asleep at night, my mind just wanders. I create whole stories that I go back to and add on to that are COMPLETELY in my imagination.

I see things and create stories about it. Why did that building fall to the ground? (Let me tell you what happened…) What do the old couple at the diner do for fun? (I have a story about that…)

Maybe I just have too much time on my hands. Maybe I like my versions of life better than reality. Maybe I have a wild imagination that cannot be controlled. Maybe it is all the above (most likely it is all the above.)

I like to be a little different. I like to use my imagination and be creative instead of doing what everyone else is doing. I like breaking all the “rules”. Rules in fashion? No way. You do you! Rules in design? Never. Design in a way that makes you feel good about your space! Rules in photography? Why? Everyone sees beauty in their own way.

For me, in photography, being able to be creative with my edits and put a narrative to my pictures is such a gratifying use of my imagination. I am so thankful I have clients who allow me to go off the beaten path and be creative. I love being with clients who listen to my crazy ideas and say “YES!! Let’s do it”. That EXCITES me.

I think in everything you do to express yourself, the most powerful tool you have (that only YOU have) is your imagination. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it will certainly be YOUR cup of tea! And why shouldn’t you always have YOUR cup of tea?

Use your imagination. Manifest it into something good that lifts your spirit and maybe lifts up others as well.

Imagine your world when you use your imagination!!! You get one shot at this, fill it with your creativity.
